We all have been moved to create something bigger than ourselves -- to do something worthwhile. It's our passion for people that inspired us to create Be Well Atlanta. We've discovered the key to "true happiness" is losing yourself in the service of others.
We'd like to encourage all our Be Well Atlanta members to "be good" and support their favorite charity. We've decided to support charities that fall within our seven dimensions of wellness.
EnableUSA
Raises money to help Colombian children re-enter society after being forced into servitude by the FARC, Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia. These children are either kidnapped and/or purchased, so they can be trained to serve as soldiers in this militia that protects illicit drug traffic in Colombia. Locally, Enable – USA sells quilled cards and wall hangings. Phil Johnston is the founder of Enable - USA and a former CARE director.

Head Start
Our passion for Head Start began years ago when we taught yoga and meditation to over a 180 Head Start children weekly. Presently, Be Well Atlanta is continuing to work with both the teachers and students of Head Start. Head Start is a national program that promotes school readiness by enhancing the social and cognitive development of children. It's our intention to expand Be Well Atlanta's program of wellness to other Head Start programs in Atlanta, then to children in our local schools to increase awareness of their own personal health and well-being.

G-CAPP - Georgia Campaign for Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention
Believe it or not, the inspiration for G-CAPP was the distinction of Georgia having the highest teen pregnancy rate in the United State in 1994. Fourteen years later, teen pregnancy rates are significantly down thanks to G-CAPP. It's making a real difference in the lives of Georgia's adolescent girls. Further, G-CAPP's mission now addresses social antecedents that lie beneath the problem behavior. These include poverty, unemployment, violence, drugs, lack of good parenting, school failure and dropout, child abuse, and alienation from mainstream society, racism and gender bias. Jane Fonda is the founder of G-CAPP.
